HR managers are the pillars of any company. Being the most important part of any business, it is significant that they possess exceptional skills. The company can take advantage of these services and can scale up and prosper in the long run.

Although the responsibilities of an HR manager vary from company to company, below are certain essential skills an excellent manager must have.

The Positive Spectrum

1) Adaptability to Changing Trends:

An outstanding manager molds according to the situation due to changing trends and advancements in science and technology. He needs to play a critical role in various scenarios, for example, when enforcing a new strategy, when an employee suddenly leaves the company, when any fellow encounters a serious problem, etc.

From career counseling and employee satisfaction to recruitment and improved productivity, HR manager passionately serves the company in an effective manner.

2. Communication With Precision:

Having good communication skills, both verbal and oral, is a crucial trait every HR manager must have. He must encourage open communication to address a diverse set of people with a calm but clear and authoritative tone.

Effective communication is important when answering questions, discussing company policies with the employees, interviewing candidates, delivering a speech or presentation, dealing with a conflict, updating people about changes, etc.

3. Effective Management Skills:

Management is what the manager is hired for. Rushing into things will only create a mess. A good HR manager always maintains discipline, manages employees, and works hard for the development of the company.

Managing time and work simultaneously with happy behavior ensures increased productivity.

4) Secret keeper — Upholding Company’s Confidentiality:

A manager has access to the company’s assets and company secrets which doubles his job to handle this sensitive information carefully. To think in the best interest of the company and maintain confidentiality is his utmost responsibility. A faithful manager always endeavors to keep the secrets of his company away from rivals.

5. Teamwork And Collaboration Skill:

Rather than working individually a manager is always required to work in a team with the people. Establishing a team with the company's employees results in maximum collaboration, enthusiastic behavior, and improved efficiency of the employees.

Now if we uncover the dark side, there are some bad characteristics an HR manager must never have.

The Darker Horizon

1) Taking Credit They Don’t Deserve:

To steal someone’s idea or take credit for someone’s hard work is the worst feature a manager could possess. If this continues, people will no longer be interested in offering new ideas and broadening their horizons because they know they won’t be praised for any of it. Hence, a manager should never take the recognition and praise deserved by others.

2) Poor Listening Skills:

To be a good communicator one has to listen first. Whether it be ideas or suggestions, or problems and queries, all must be listened carefully to drive the best possible solution. Unluckily, a poor listener is always in a hurry to speak than to listen which leads to chaos and troubles.

3)Short-Tempered Behavior:

Anxiety, frustration, and hyperactive behavior are the worst enemy of any individual. Every human makes mistakes and so improves by learning from those mistakes. But a furious manager will not understand this.

Employees remain scared of such a manager which adversely affects their mental health, concentration, motivation, and work ethics. People will look at him with fear rather than respect.

4) Mismanagement Menace:

Rushing for a certain task to be performed or struggling to complete a project after the deadline is what a responsible manager will never do. Mismanagement breaks the flow of work, demotivates employees, and weakens the reputation of the company in the market.

Conclusion:
