Forecasts reveal that Artificial Intelligence(AI) is the fastest-growing IT sector.

Robots are AI-enabled machines that are capable of performing particular tasks rapidly and effectively as compared to humans.

Man has intelligence which learns from experiences, adapts to new circumstances, and manipulates the environment. In contrast, robots mimic human actions with the help of huge data which is fed into them.

AI-enabled robots are smart enough. They can sense and monitor actions, learn independently, perform complex calculations, solve different problems through computer vision, and other such technologies. Following are some fields in which AI is replacing manpower. However, it is hard to say that they will replace humans completely.

Robots

Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture:

In the agricultural sector, AI is being used extensively. AI-based drones and autonomous tractors help to boost the productivity of crops. Robots and weather monitoring systems are being used to monitor the conditions of crops. Data is gathered and models are trained to make the entire crop yielding process easy and trouble-free.

AI systems are also targeting weeds and pests in the crop. Disease in plants, poor nutrition and other related problems are solved by AI. This increases the overall quality and quantity of harvest.

Automobiles and Artificial Intelligence:

We have now entered an era where AI has given us self-driving cars. These autonomous vehicles use radar, cameras, and a combination of other sensor systems to identify objects on the road. Advanced AI algorithms of face recognition detect pedestrians on the road and decide the direction accordingly without any human driver.

Soon we will see automated vehicles all over the world. Thus, we can say that AI is going to replace humans in this regard.

Artificial Intelligence and Medical Field:

The Healthcare industry is also enjoying the benefits of AI. Machine learning, deep learning and data analysis, etc are used to diagnose and treat various diseases.

Two examples of such algorithms are DLAD(Deep Learning-based Automatic Detection) and LYNA(Lymph Node Assistant). The former is used to analyse abnormal cell growth such as cancer, and the latter identifies breast cancer tumours.

The advancement of AI is prominent. But it is hard to imagine a robot doing complicated brain surgery. Hence, the role of a doctor comes into play here. Human capability outweighs AI in this regard.

Military and Robots:

Future battlefields will consist of robotic soldiers. Recently, the head of the UK military stated that by 2030 quarter of military forces in the British Army would comprise robots. They are used for various military operations.

Without increasing manpower on the battlefield, wars will be held with the assistance of robots. Expert and sophisticated systems are under the process to assist military requirements.

AI Kills Some Jobs While Creating Other Jobs:

Many jobs will be or are already replaced to a great extent by advanced AI technologies. Some of these are listed below:

  • Customer service executives are no more required. Chatbots are now significantly used to answer FAQ’s and customer support queries.
  • Advanced AI and machine learning algorithms are already performing bookkeeping ad data entry services.
  • The auto check-ins system by AI has replaced receptionists to a great extent. Airports and hotels have automated entry and exit systems.
  • Self-driving cars reveal that the automobile sector will be automated 98%, replacing drivers. In the next 10 years, 1.7 million American truck drivers will be replaced by AI-As per the Los Angeles Times.

Many new jobs will also be created by AI. For example, machine learning engineers, web developers, data scientists, etc.

Final Word:

If AI is implemented responsibly, it can surely benefit society. Robots are continuously being trained and introduced, but it is unlikely to say that they can replace completely. Human is irreplaceable in terms of emotional intelligence, cognitive thinking, and some other unique qualities gifted by God.

AI has a significant impact on our future. If human minds and machines work together, they can and are causing revolutions, yet the best of robots can’t replace humans in the long run.
